I've been soldering so much I feel dizzy!

Here is whats going on in this picture:

1.) This is the Metra 1784 harness plug. It connects to the harness that currently attaches to the stock head unit.

2.) This is the bundle of wires carrying audio signals. (Front left & right and Rear left & right)

3.) This is the bundle carrying the +12V power, all ground, remote amp-turn on, and the e-brake override. This is separate from 2 above to try to avoid noise. The blue wire taped to the outside here is the retractable antenna control wire, which I will not be using.

4.) Two ground loop isolators. Hopefully these will reduce/eliminate noise as well

5.) These are the wires that are as of yet incomplete. They all need extensions as they need to be routed to various places in the car.

ACC (red): This tells the unit when to turn on.
ILL (orange): This tells the unit when the headlights are on, so it can dim the screen for night mode.
VSS (pink): This provides the unit with the vehicle speed, to aid navigation when GPS signal is iffy.,
Reverse: (violet) This tells the unit when the car is in reverse, both to trigger the reverse camera (if installed, I won't install this) and to tell the navigation which direction the car is moving in.

6.) This is the black head unit plug. One of the two plugs going into the head unit.

7.) This is the white head unit plug, the other of the two plugs going into the head unit.

8.) This bundle has power and ground wires for the HD Radio unit, which will be located separately from the head unit due to space concerns

9.) This is an "extra" bundle of wires I will not be using in my install.

10.) This is the iPod connector.. The USB plug seen here needs to plug into a wire coming out the back of the head unit. it only uses USB for control signals though, so audio and video cables need to be connected as well.

Ever see a self-portrait of just a camera (yes, I shot this in the bathroom mirror and I reversed the image to make it look normal)? I sctratched together this radio remote control for my digital camera. I'm thinking if I get time, I MIGHT get the chance to use it to get shots of eagles lured to the shore of the river by a dead fish. It uses a very basic radio-control transmitter and reciever that's made for use in radio-controlled model cars, etc. The hinged wooden dowel is light enough that it won't actuate the auto-focus/exposure due to its own weight (I originally planned to install a counteracting spring to keep pressure off the shutter button between shots, but that wasn't needed), and the spring over the shutter button eliminates the need for precise control of the actuator unit. The sliding knot on the big loop of yellow string allows easy adjustment to make the actuator work properly within its limited pulling range. The little plastic bucket hanging below holds the radio reciever unit and batteries. Many of the details of this "work of art" can't be seen in the photo, but the overall principle should be clear.
